Global Organic Textile Standard
The GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification is an internationally recognized standard for organic textile products. This ensures that the cotton is indeed organic, that strict environmental standards have been met throughout the production process, and that fair working conditions are provided for workers in the supply chain.
Organic cotton
Organic cotton is a sustainable fiber since, unlike conventional cotton, it does not use pesticides and chemical fertilizers or genetically modified seeds and uses less water.
Benefits of using Organic Cotton
- By using natural pest control techniques instead of toxic chemicals, air, land, and water pollution is avoided.
- It protects the health of farmers and workers who, when exposed to these chemicals, can acquire various diseases.
- It is beneficial for the final consumer, since organic cotton does not contain potentially harmful chemical residues.
- Organic cotton that is GOTS certified also guarantees fair trade; that is, fair labor conditions for agricultural workers.
- Organic cotton is hypoallergenic and enjoys extraordinary quality and softness.
Pima Cotton and Native Cotton
-
pima cotton
Peruvian pima cotton
He is known to be one of the best in the world. It is characterized by being an extra long, resistant and soft fiber. It is a fine, high-quality fiber that provides durability in the final product and a soft, silky texture when in contact with the skin. -
native cotton
Native cotton or " Pakucho " is a naturally pigmented ancestral cotton. The cotton ball grows naturally in earthy tones such as beige, brown, and green. This makes it even more sustainable as it is no longer necessary to dye it.
Eco-friendly dyes and sustainable fibers
At Pangea we use natural colors in several of our garments but otherwise we use organic cotton fabrics that have been dyed with eco-friendly dyes with low environmental impact and have gone through GOTS certification. At Pangea we have used organic cotton for all our garments since our foundation in 2018, but as of 2023, we decided to also incorporate other sustainable fibers such as alpaca, linen and balances from the textile industry.
Dunas Sweater and Vest
We have created our first organic baby alpaca sweater in natural colors. The fiber obtained has been from alpacas raised on a certified organic farm, under the care of indigenous herders who receive fair trade conditions. The fiber is obtained without harming the animals during the annual shearing and the fiber classification employs dozens of women to recognize the fineness of the fibers. The fiber is of excellent quality, thermal and biodegradable. In addition, the garment has been hand crocheted by a group of artisans in Lima also under fair trade conditions.
Deadstock fibers
For the fall winter 2023 collection, we use excess stock from the textile industry to create jackets and pants for men and women.
In this way, we achieved the color and texture that we were looking for with a material that for others was considered deadstock but for us it was just what we were looking for.
By using what is already on the market, we also contribute with the environment and we offer you exclusive pieces that adhere to the design we wanted to offer.
Lino
Upcycling Products
At Pangea we believe that nothing that can be reused should be thrown away. With a little creativity you can transform something that is seen as "deadstock" into a valuable product. Thus, we have also created accessories such as scrunchies, cotton pads, headbands and heart-shaped key chains and ornaments with pieces of our organic cotton.

Maintenance and Care
“Care for your clothes as the good friends they are” –Joan Crawford. All Pangea garments have been created with fine natural fibers that must be properly cared for. For this reason, we recommend hand washing with cold water and a mild detergent for delicate fabrics. Do not use the dryer, let the garment dry outdoors in the shade .
